Fry Site Services is a family-run excavation contractor based in Gravesend, working across Kent and the South East as part of the Fry Group. We handle the excavation at the start of a project, stripping sites, reducing levels and digging foundations, trenches and below-ground structures. We work for main contractors, developers, self-builders and homeowners, and because our sister company deals with the waste, the spoil is cleared as part of the same job.

Because we are part of the Fry Group, our own waste company clears the arisings. The spoil leaves under the same contract instead of waiting on separate haulage, which keeps the site clear and the cost predictable. What Excavation Work Do We Take On?
We take on site strip and reduced-level dig to bring a plot down to formation. We handle bulk earthworks and cut and fill where a site needs reshaping, and footing and foundation trenches for new builds and extensions. We dig trenches for drainage, ducting and utilities, and excavate for attenuation tanks and soakaways. Where the ground turns to rock, we have the plant for it.
Kent does not give you one type of ground. The Weald is heavy clay that shrinks and swells with the seasons. The Downs are chalk. River valleys and the coast bring alluvial soils and a high water table, and regeneration land around Ebbsfleet and Dartford often sits on made ground from whatever was there before. We price and plan for the ground we expect to find.
Compact and mini excavators get through a standard gateway and into tight urban plots. Larger tracked machines, dumpers and dozers move volume on commercial sites. The operator matters as much as the machine, because accurate levels come down to the person in the cab.
We check for gas, electric, water and telecoms before we break ground, and we shore and support excavations to depth. Every job runs to HSE guidance and CDM 2015 duties. If a plot needs clearing first, our site clearance team handles it. When the dig is done we grade, level and compact the formation so the foundations and groundworks that follow sit on stable ground.

How Do You Keep Excavation Work Safe?
Every dig starts with ground stability checks and an underground utility survey, so we know what is below before we start. For deep excavations we install trench support, shoring and protective barriers. Near roads we put traffic management and pedestrian routes in place. All of it runs to HSE regulations and CDM 2015 guidelines.
Can You Handle Small and Large Excavation Projects?
Yes. On a house extension or a driveway we use compact excavators that work in restricted space. On industrial units, commercial buildings and infrastructure work we bring tracked excavators, dozers and dumpers. We also take on deep excavation, piling work and rock excavation.
Do You Take the Spoil Away?
Yes. Spoil and site waste go through our sister waste company inside the Fry Group, so muck away is part of the job rather than a separate contract. It keeps the site clear as the dig progresses and the cost predictable.
How Do You Keep Disruption Down?
We use low-noise machinery, dust suppression and phased digging to hold the noise and dust down. On occupied and built-up sites we can work out of hours, and we put traffic management in where a site sits on or near a road.
