Groundworks Package Delivered for New Build Annex in Faversham

A Well Coordinated and High Quality Delivery by Fry Site Services and the Wider Fry Group

Fry Site Services, part of the Fry Group, has completed the full groundworks package for a new build annex in the historic town of Faversham, Kent. The project required complete enabling works, drainage installation, foundations, utilities trenching and external preparation, delivered to a high standard and ready for follow on trades. The nature of the scheme called for careful sequencing, disciplined workmanship and the coordinated support of several Fry Group companies.

Enabling Works and Early Preparation

The programme began with a full enabling package to prepare the site for construction. This stage is essential on any new build project because it establishes a safe, tidy and well organised environment that allows the remaining works to proceed without interruption. The Fry Site Services team delivered the enabling works efficiently, setting out safe access routes, controlled work areas and a site layout that supported the progress of drainage, utilities and foundation works.

During mobilisation, support from Recmat and Fry MM helped maintain a steady pace. Recmat supplied aggregates and provided compliant waste management services, ensuring that materials arrived promptly and spoil was removed without delay. Their consistent service, available at RecMat, helped keep the site clean, presentable and free from obstruction. Working alongside them, Fry MM managed the movement of bulk materials, muck away and large deliveries, helping to keep the workflow smooth and uninterrupted. Their information can be found at Fry MM.

Drainage and Utilities Installation

With the enabling works complete, the team progressed to the drainage and utilities installation. This stage included trenching, pipe laying and forming the required connections for the new annex. All drainage runs were set out with precision to achieve correct gradients and alignment, supporting long term performance and compliance.

Utility trenching was carried out with particular attention to service separation, depth and protection. As with all projects involving mechanical and electrical infrastructure, Fry MEP provided technical oversight and assurance. Their team reviewed the proposed routes, confirmed the suitability of the service positions and ensured that all underground installations aligned with the building’s wider mechanical and electrical design. Information on Fry MEP is available at Fry MEP.

Groundworks

Foundations and Structural Groundworks

After drainage and utilities were installed, Fry Site Services moved into the core structural stage of the scheme. Strip foundations were set out, excavated and poured to the required depths, with accuracy being essential to match the building footprint. Once the foundations were completed, blockwork and brickwork were constructed up to damp proof course level. This created a clean and stable base on which the superstructure could be built.

The concrete oversite was then poured and finished to a high standard. The team achieved smooth, level surfaces that provided a durable and well prepared platform for internal follow on trades. Each stage was delivered methodically, with careful attention to accuracy, cleanliness and quality control.

External Preparation and Making the Site Ready for Future Finishes

With the primary groundworks elements complete, focus turned to the external areas around the annex. Type 1 stone was installed across the designated external zones, forming a solid, level and well compacted base for future landscaping, paving slabs and hard finishes. This preparation work ensures that external trades can proceed without delay once they arrive on site.

The team made sure all external areas were left tidy, safe and ready for the next phase of the construction programme. Levels were checked repeatedly, edges were trimmed cleanly and surfaces were compacted properly to minimise any requirement for remedial works later on.

Recmat and Fry MM again played a key role at this stage by supplying aggregates and supporting waste movements promptly, ensuring the external preparation progressed quickly and without disruption.

A Coordinated Team Effort and a Successful Delivery

The new build annex in Faversham required a complete and well coordinated groundworks package delivered with precision, care and efficiency. With support from Recmat for aggregates and waste management, Fry MM for bulk haulage and material logistics, and Fry MEP for technical assurance of utilities and services, the project benefitted from the full capability and experience of the Fry Group.

The result is a professionally delivered foundation, drainage, utility and external preparation package that is clean, accurate and ready for follow on trades. The Fry Site Services team approached each stage with discipline and attention to detail, producing a result that reflects the high standards expected from a trusted groundworks contractor in Kent and the South East.

Another excellent project delivered by the team, demonstrating why Fry Site Services continues to be relied upon for high quality, reliable and professional groundworks across the region.
